// Project summary

25 youngsters from 5 different countries (Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Romania) came together to experience nature and discover cultural diversity. The event aimed to raise the environmental awareness among the participants and also to have an effect on the local community of the city of Arad. During the youth exchange the youngsters have concentrated on various environmental issues and activities and have presented conclusive materials through the public exhibition at the end of the event. This youth exchange has been realized through Youth in Action Program (Action 1.1)

// The Exhibition (Event)

During the week we had to make use of our creativity skills to prepare posters about our countries and the environment. We had an activity to make our own paper to use for them.

On the last day, our creations were exposed at the park in the town centre of Arad, where the public could come and see what we had made.

// Activities (Training)

During the week we were able to participate in a variety of great activities, to discover some of the beautiful nature around us - and also to discover each other, and ourselves.

We played some rope games in order to build a strong team between the participants.

We were able to see the park on bikes and also from the river - when we canoed down the Mures.

We also spent a morning in the laboratory at the centre, learning and exploring for ourselves.

And finally we "worked" a bit aswell - helping to clean the beach area along the Mures riverbank!

// Arad - Our Host City (Training)

Arad is the capital city of Arad County, in western Romania, it is on the river Mures.

Arad is a modern-built city and contains many charming private and public buildings, including a cathedral. An important industrial center and transportation hub, it is also the seat of a Romanian Orthodox bishop and has two universities.

We visited the city for an evening out to experience the nightlife of Arad - its many great bars and clubs. We also had a chance to visit the city and get to know it a bit better during the exhibition.

// The Lunca Muresului Natural Park - our home (Training)

25 participants aged 18-25 from 5 different countries were hosted at the Parcul Natural Lunca Muresului in western Romania for 8 days in October 2008. The Natural Park protects the landscape of the Mures floodplain with its rich biodiversity and promotes the maintenance of the harmonious interaction between nature and the human traditional activities.

Inside the park, there is the Millennium Centre, a bright green building. This was where the participants were housed for the week - the perfect place to start discovering nature!
